NVIDIA GTX 465: A Mainstream Version of NVIDIA Fermi

We acquired a sample from Galaxy for our early test of the GeForce GTX 465. Here’s a few shots of the card, it comes equipped with a custom-built HSF that looks somewhat futuristic.

The package box

It may not look like much, but at least the bundle has the most basic items included. You can also find a HDMI-to-HDMI cable inside the box. A nice bonus because we don’t find this kind of cable very often.

The fan produces enough airflow to help dissipate the heat generated by this mainstream version of Fermi. We recorded a maximum temperature of 75 degree Celsius during load times, and 40 degree Celsius when left idle, well within tolerance level.

You can release the fan by pressing these two clips on the top side of the cooler.

Upon release, the fan would still latch upon the hinges on the lower side of the cooler, revealing a portion of the heatsink and the bottom side of the fan itself. This could be handy for cleaning purposes.

Power is supplied to the GTX 465 through a pair of 6-pin PCI-Express connector.
