MSI Master Overclocking Arena 2010: Indonesia’s Best
For PC enthusiasts, being a respectable overclocker (Ocer) is a pride on its own. One must have the deepest knowledge of PC hardwares along with the necessary skills needed to excel above the others. Not to mention the exorbitant expenditure that is required to maintain those two at their top conditions. The joy and recognition from winning an overclocking (OC) competition, however, is worth all the effort, especially if the corresponding competition is an international one. No wonder then, if the OC crowd in Indonesia gladly welcomes the MSI Master Overclocking Arena 2010 (MOA 2010).

This international OC competition is organized by MSI, a renowned computer brand who supplies some of the components used in this competition. The contest is currently taking place today, July 22 2010, at Planet Hollywood, Jakarta. Several other brands also support the event, including Intel indonesia, Alfa Arta Andhaya (sole distributor of MSI products in Indonesia), ADATA, Antec, Western Digital, Chimei, andd Genius. This particular OC contest serves as a qualification round for Indonesian overclockers. The champion will be sent off to Taipei, Taiwan, to represent his country in the MOA 2010 grand final on September 10 2010.

MSI Master Overclocking Arena was first held in Taipei, back in 2008. That year, two overclockers from Indonesia participated in this prestigious event and came home as the world champion! The title was claimed by Swedish overclockers in 2009. Will it be returned to our country this year? The answer rests on the shoulders of the winner of this Indonesia preliminary round.

Of the many Indonesian overclockers registering themselves to join the fray, ten were selected through a filtering stage to compete in the arena. They are some of the best overclockers in the country, whose skills and achievements are well recognized. The champion will be sent to represent Indonesia in the grand final at Taipei. How about the rest of them then? Don’t worry, it’s a major competition and the prizes are by no means small. In fact, MSI MOA 2010 is one overclocking contest with the largest amount of prizes in Indonesia so far. The total value of prizes in this competition -coming in both cash and in the form of computer peripherals- measures around US$ 6000. Interestingly enough, there’s a gift waiting for everyone, so all the contestants will not come home empty-handed.

Aside from the MSI MOA 2010 main event, there are also some other additional shows going around the stage. What’s interesting is the Street Fighter 4 game contests for reporters. There’s a photography contest too, so everybody would have something to do.
