MSI GX660R: High-End Mobile Gaming with DirectX 11 Support
Perfromance: ATI Radeon HD 5870M

We were amazed by the 3DMark score generated by MSI GX660R. So far, it’s the most powerful mobile gaming system we’ve ever tested. Such processing power should enable the user to run just about any games available today without experiencing too much of a slowdown, but, of course, we have to test it further using DirectX 11 titles to see just how well it would perform in the most recent games .

In Lost Planet 2, we had to compromise with the display setting a bit. Using medium settings at 1280×720 yielded acceptable frame rates without sacrificing too much image quality.

Dirt2’s DirectX 11 mode is fairly playable, although the minimum FPS fell dangerously close to the 30 FPS mark. Lower the graphics settings a bit and you should be good to race.

Metro 2033 is, after all, one of the most power hungry games available today. MSI GX660R could only run the game with acceptable frame rate when we configured the display to normal detail setting with tessellation turned off. You can try lowering the resolution and increase the graphics setting a notch or two for better image quality.
