NVIDIA GTS 450 SLI – An Impressive Duet
Conclusion
Given their combined price, two GTS 450s in SLI provide a terrific alternative for budget gamers who feel like gaming at higher graphics detail settings. They’re still somewhat underpowered when the resolution is increased to 1920×1080. After all, the GTS 450 was originally meant for gaming at lower resolutions such as 1680×1020 or 1366×768, in which case the GTS 450 duet truly excels above the competition.
Some of the games in our test, including Alien VS Predator, Crysis, and Lost Planet 2, are too much for a single GTS 450 to handle. Add another GTS 450 and it’s a whole different story, as the games run at nearly twice as much frame rates. The overall performance increase measure up as high as 90%. This is similar to what we saw when testing the GTX 460 in SLI a while ago.
Performance : NVIDIA GTS 450 SLI VS NVIDIA GTS 470
A GeForce GTX 470-based graphics card sells for around US$ 299, while two GTS 450s will only set you back around US$ 258. As you can see from our test results, even a pair of standard-cocked GTS 450s can already match or even surpass the performance of an overclocked GTX 470. Once again, we have a multi-GPU solution that is both cheaper and faster than a single high-end card of similar price point, but of course, you must first ensure that your system is SLI-ready before rushing to the store to acquire two GTS 450s.
