Java Rockin’land-Day 3 Revisited: A Fantastic, Rockin’ Closure!

Reading time:
October 16, 2010

The third day of this largest rock music festival in South East Asia was simply awesome! The weather was clear at both day and night, so everyone was practically free to roam inside the festival’s location as they enjoy the final hours of Java Rockin’ Land 2010.

The overall atmosphere in this third day felt somewhat more masculine and powerful, due to staggering performances from bands who brought all sort of “hard-line” music genres to the stage: from power rock, glam metal, pop punk, alternative rock, to electro-alternative rock. “Imported” bands such as The Vines, Di-rect, Mutemath, Wolfmother, and Stryper satisfied the audience’s thirst for some quality rock music with continuous live shows across the venue. Local artists, including Seringai, Kotak, Koil, Superman is Dead, and Netral refused to be left out and took to the stages of Java Rockin’ Land with equal fury.

I never heard many of the songs from those foreign bands listed above, but their attractive, live music shows stole my attention nonetheless. I indulged myself in the excitement that was found everywhere at the Ancol Carnaval Beach that night. Aside from singing their songs, some of the artists, like Marcel Veenendaal, the new vocalist from a Dutch band, Di-rect who was exceptionally attractive and communicative on stage, presented some interesting theatrical performances as well.

Kotak, a local band, had the audience mesmerized with their well-known songs such as “Aku Tak Bisa”, “Pelan-Pelan Saja”, “Selalu Cinta”, and of course, “Beraksi”. Even as Kotak was scheduled to perform at the same time with Mutemath, we still find many people flocking in front of their stage to see Kotak’s appearance. The crowd sang along enthusiastically as Tantri, the energetic vocalist, steps up and sings the band’s hits.
