Review: Canon PowerShot S95
A miniature-filter effect is available as an option in the video recording mode. Some of the parameters, such as object orientation and effect positioning, can be adjusted to suit your needs. You can also accelerate the video playback (at 5x, 10x, or 20x) to further enhance the miniature feel.

In HDR mode, the camera snaps three consequent frames under different exposure settings and combines them in one, final frame. As proven in our test, this will produce better lighting range. However, you need to use a tripod to ensure consistent object positions across all three frames. Otherwise, you’ll end up with a ghosting effect on the final picture.

Thanks to the HS system, the S95 has a high sensitivity level of up to ISO 12800, 2 stops higher than normal, although the camera will only be able to use that ISO level under Low-light mode. Aside from that, the maximum resolution in ISO 6400 and ISO 12800 modes is limited to only 2,5 megapixel. This method is often referred to as “pixel binning”, and provides lower noise level compared to if the resolution is turned up to its maximum.
