Koneksi Thunderbolt menawarkan fleksibilitas yang sebelumnya dimiliki USB dengan kecepatan yang jauh lebih tinggi. Kemampuan daisy chain dari koneksi ini merupakan salah satu alasan utama untuk beralih menggunakan koneksi yang sebetulnya dipopulerkan oleh platform Apple. Karena dukungan untuk koneksi ini telah hadir secara native pada chipset Z77 rasanya sayang sekali jika tidak digunakan.
