Conclusion

Gigabyte’s GV-N460OC-768I is the first pre-overclocked product based on the 768 version of the GeForce GTX 460 that we received. Gigabyte did not increase the frequency too much at 40 MHz for the core clock and 80 MHz for the shader, but it does give a little performance boost, and the overall performance of this graphics card is quite satisfactory in most of our test softwares. The frame rate never dropped below the 30 FPS mark. This is true even for the Tessellation-intensive, DirectX 11 benchmarks, which fully utilized the processing power of DirectX 11-class graphics cards. It looks like the Gigabyte GV-N460OC-768I’s factory over clock contributes to its good scores, by some extent.

Gaming at Full-HD resolution of 1920×1080 is possible with this graphics card. Budget gamers would love this card, as it enables them to turn on much of the extra graphical details in modern games. In some of our tests however, the frame rate can be too close to the 30 FPS limit if the display is set at that resolution. Of course, you can always lower the graphics setting, if you’re not too concerned about the image quality that is. Otherwise, stick to lower resolution to ensure smooth gameplay.

From the features point of view, the Gigabyte GV-N460OC-768I offers a variety of interesting features, such as the Ultra Durable construction and Windforce 2X cooler. Ultra Durable means that the components used to build the card are of high quality (which is good for the long run, obviously) while the Windforce 2X HSF sure is useful to suppress the heat. It’s relatively silent during operations, as we noticed in our test runs. Also, by slashing off a few degrees centigrade more compared to the competitor’s solution, it provides you with some additional overclocking headroom.
