Review – AMD Radeon HD 6850: Same Technology, Lower Price

We obtained a Radeon HD 6850 engineering sample unit directly from AMD. As such, it came all by itself, no package box or any extra accessory, just the graphics card.

Our sample unit, obviously a standard reference model.

This is Radeon HD 6850’s reference cooler. It looks slightly different compared to the one fitted on the HD 6870. With the fan set to “auto” mode, we recorded a maximum temperature of 82 degree Celsius in full load conditions (fan speed at 51%). When idle, the temperature hovered at around 53 degree Celcius while the fan slowed down to 25%.

There are ventilation holes along the sides of the cooler’s body.
