Review Gigabyte GV-R685D5-1GD: A Cooler Alternative to the Standard HD 6850

The PCI Express 2.1 x16 connector on the lower part of the card.

You need at least a 500 watt PSU for this card to work properly. Power is supplied through a single, 6-pin PCI Express power connector.

On the backplate, you can find two DVI connectors, one HDMI port and one Display Port connector. This configuration differs slightly from the reference standard HD 6850, which usually comes with two mini-Display Ports instead of a single Display Port connector.

GV-R685D5-1GD’s PCB layout, as seen from the back

A side-by-side comparison with a standard HD 6850 reveals that GV-R685D5-1GD’s PCB board is shorter by around one centimeter compared to a reference board. However, that difference is offset by the body of its Windforce 2x cooler, which protrudes beyond the rear end of the PCB.
