Pemilik platform ini memiliki opsi untuk menggunakan prosesor Intel 8-core desktop pertama, Core i7-5960X, yang memiliki performa mengagumkan. Untuk pengguna prosesor yang sudah begitu kencang, pastinya akan menginginkan sebuah motherboard mewah yang memiliki berbagai pilihan ekspansi dan segudang fitur ekstra lainnya. Chipset Intel X99 merupakan chipset high-end yang ditujukan bagi prosesor Intel bersoket LGA2011v3. Seperti bisa dilihat di atas, platform X99 memiliki banyak sekali opsi ekspansi, mulai dari dukungan 40 PCIe lane 3.0 dari prosesor, Quad-channel DDR4, 10 SATA 6Gbps port, dan masih ada tambahan 8 Lane PCIe 2.0 untuk interkoneksi periferal tambahan.
