Akun Para Pengguna WhatsApp Terancam Dihapus?

Baru-baru ini beberapa di antara kita mungkin menerima forward message melalui WhatsApp yang menyatakan bahwa kita harus meneruskan pesan tersebut ke semua kontak. Jika tidak, dalam waktu 48 jam akun kita akan dihapus oleh pihak WhatsApp. Benarkah demikian? Anda tidak perlu khawatir, karena ternyata berita ini hanyalah hoax semata.

Sebenarnya, apa yang terjadi?

Berdasarkan berita yang kami sadur dari Tech2, terjadi gangguan teknis dalam aplikasi WhatsApp. Gangguan tersebut menyebabkan status akun pengguna WhatsApp berubah menjadi “Error: Status Unavailable“. Pihak WhatsApp sendiri mengemukakan gangguan teknis tersebut melalui akun Twitter dan blog resmi mereka, serta berjanji akan memperbaikinya secepat mungkin. Akibat permasalahan inilah, muncul beberapa forward message seperti di bawah ini.

Jika Anda menerima pesan semacam ini, sebaiknya Anda abaikan saja dan tetap tenang, karena isi pesan di atas sama sekali tidak benar. Pada awalnya, WhatsApp memang memberikan fasilitas chatting secara gratis selama Anda memiliki koneksi internet.

Mengenai WhatsApp yang berbayar, seperti yang tertera pada situs resmi WhatsApp, pengguna telepon genggam jenis apapun selain iPhone akan dikenai biaya sebesar $0.99 per tahun setelah penggunaan gratis selama satu tahun. Bagi pengguna iPhone, biaya akan dikenakan saat pertama kali menggunakan aplikasi chatting tersebut dan pengguna iPhone tidak perlu membayar lagi untuk pemakaian selanjutnya.
