Conclusions

Although ZOTAC GTX 460 1GB does not come pre-overclocked, it still offers some additional value in the form of bundled softwares. The ZOTAC Boost Premium software package and the original, Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands game are a nice bonus that could justify the purchase. You could also benefit from the more varied display options, which includes a Display Port connector not found on reference based GTX 460s.

Since it’s operating at standard clockspeeds, ZOTAC GTX 460 1GB performs just like any other 1 GB variant of the GeForce GTX 460. In DirectX 11 games such as Alien Vs. Predator and Lost Planet 2, the frame rate stays well above 30 FPS. With its graphics settings set to “high”, Metro 2033 proved to be too much of a challenge for a single GTX 460 and the graphics card could only produce less than 20 frames per second. On the contrary, we recorded more than 60 FPS in DiRT2, a fairly “lightweight” DirectX 11 title.

As for DirectX 9 and DirectX 10 games, ZOTAC GTX 460 1GB had no problem rendering the graphics at relatively high frame rates. The GeForce GTX 460 GPU on this card is powerful enough to run Batman: Arkham Asylum –PhysX enabled- at more than 60 FPS.
